365 Days Take Two -- Day Fourteen -- Slice of Life Challenge

*Once we cross that far horizon,
life is bound to be surprising,
we'll take it day by day.
Nevermind the wind and weather,
if we walk that trail together,
somehow we'll find our way.

Yeah there's a long road before us,
and it's a hard road indeed.
But darling I vow, we'll get through somehow,
wherever the trail may lead.

... And through the whole ride,
I'll be by your side,

Wherever the trail may lead.*

365 Days Take Two! -- Day Thirteen

We had one final burst of spring before the cold weather returns for a bit...

*Every day I drive by a little white church,
it's got these little white crosses like angels in the yard.
Maybe I should stop on in, say a prayer,
maybe talk to God like He is there.
Oh I know he's there,
Yeah I know he's there...

Well Hello World,
How you been?
Good to see you my old friend.
Sometimes I feel as cold as steel,
and broken like I'm never gonna heal.

I see a light, a little grace,
a little faith unfurl...

Hello world.*

*You know, people got a funny idea that being brave is not being scared.  I don't know... I always figured, if you weren't scared there was nothing to be brave about.*

365 Days Take Two! -- Day Ten

*So... I know this picture isn't anything like what I typically post.  It's not supposed to be.  This is more along the lines of a public service announcement.  This morning I got the news that no one wants to hear... that news, in reference to the biopsy I'd had done last week on the mole below --

"It's Malignant Melanoma."

Cancer.

Now... I'm okay.  We'll start by saying that now.  I went in this afternoon and found out that I am lucky.  Incredibly lucky.  I was diagnosed with Stage I Malignant Melanoma.  This Stage has a very high cure rate.  After that... not so much.  I found this mole last Sunday on my back.  A mole I'd never seen before, or at least never seen looking like it looks in the photo above.  I called Monday morning and it was biopsied Tuesday.  A week later and I now have a 6 inch incision from the wide excisional surgery they performed this afternoon to make sure they got it all.

I'm incredibly thankful that I caught this so early and this scar is one I'll wear with dignity and pride.

Everyone please... I cannot stress this enough... please be aware of your body and your moles.

*It doesn't matter what you've heard,
'impossible' is not a word,
it's just a reason for someone not to try.

Everybody's scared to death,
when they decide to take that step
out on the water,
but it'll be alright.

Life is so much more than what your eyes are seeing,
you will find a way, if you keep believing...

I've seen dreams that move the mountains,
hope that doesn't ever end even when,
the sky is falling.
I've seen miracles just happen,
silent prayers get answered,
broken hearts become brand new...

That's what FAITH can do!*

*Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.*
