Day Ten -- A Cardinal in Wildcat Country!

Copyright 2010.  A Cardinal in our backyard - Lexington, Ky.

*Every happening, great or small,
is a parable by which God speaks to us.
And the art of life
is to get the message.*

Day Nine -- Disbelief.

Photo taken February 27, 2010.

**Note:  This photo isn't artistic or beautiful... it just is.  And it's heartbreaking... and it's definitely a memory.  For all those whose lives were affected by the earthquake this morning in Chile -- I offer my sincerest thoughts and prayers.**

*So damn easy to say that life's so hard,
everybody's got their share of battle scars.
As for me, I'd like to think my lucky stars
that I'm alive and well.*

Day Eight -- An old Favorite -- "A Boy and His Shadow"

Copyright 2008.  Connor in the snow.

*The most important thing I can add from my own observations is this;  Knowing it started from unremarkable circumstances should be a comfort to us all.  Because it proves that you don't need much to change the entire world for the better.  You can start with the most ordinary ingredients.  You can start with what you've got.*

Day Seven -- Beautiful sky...

Copyright 2009.  Taken in Nags Head, NC.

*My mother always talked to me a lot about the sky.
She liked to watch the clouds in the day
and the stars at night.
Especially the stars.

We would play a game sometimes,
a game called, 'what's beyond the sky.'
We would imagine darkness, or a blinding light,
or something else we didn't know how to name.
But of course that was just a game...
There's nothing beyond the sky.

The sky just is,
and it goes on and on,
and we play all of our games beneath it.*

Day Six -- A Blue Bird in Blue Blood Country! (aka: Kentucky Wildcat Country!)

Copyright 2009.  Bluejay during the ice storm of January '09.

*I don't ask for the meaning of the song of a bird,
or the rising of the sun on a misty morning.

There they are...
And they are beautiful.*

Day Five -- A Cowboy in Kentucky

Copyright 2010.  Brad Paisley - taken at the concert in Lexington, Kentucky in January '10.

*When you find yourself, in some far off place,
and it causes you to rethink some things,
you start to sense that slowly you're becoming someone else,
and then you find yourself.

When you make new friends, in a brand new town,
and you start to think about settling down,
the things that would have been lost on you
are now clear as a bell,
and you find yourself...

Yeah that's when you find yourself.

Well you go through life, so sure of where you're headed,
and you wind up lost
and it's the best thing that could have happened.
Cause sometimes when you lose your way,
it's really just as well,
because you find yourself...

Yeah that's when you find yourself.*

Day Four -- Beauty in the Storm

Copyright 2009.  Taken in Lexington Kentucky during the ice storm of January '09.

*I was sure by now God, you would have reached down
and wiped our tears away.
Stepped in and saved the day.
But once again,
I say 'Amen', and it's still raining.

But as the thunder rolls
I barely hear you whisper through the rain,
"I'm with you."
And as your mercy falls I raise my hands
and praise the God who gives and takes away.

And I'll praise you in this storm,
and I will lift my hands,
for you are who you are,
no matter where I am.

And every tear I cry,
you hold in your hand.
You never left my side,
and though my heart is torn...

I will praise you in this storm.*

Day Three -- Miranda and Blake = love.

Copyright 2010.  Taken Jaunary 2010 in Lexington, Kentucky.

*I thought if I could touch this place or feel it,
this brokenness inside me
might start healing.
Out here it's like I'm someone else,
I thought that maybe I could find myself.

If I could walk around I swear I'll leave,
Won't take nothin' but a memory,
from the house that...
built me.*

Day Two -- Beauty in the coldest places...

         Copyright 2010.

*Make a wish and place it in your heart.
Anything you want... everything you want.
Do you have it?
Good.

Now believe it can come true.

You never know where the next miracle is gonna come from.
The next smile, the next wish come true.
But if you believe that it's right around the corner,
and you open your heart and mind to the possibility of it,
to the certainty of it,
you just might get the thing you're wishing for.

The world is full of magic,
you just have to believe in it.

So make your wish...
Do you have it?
Good.

Now believe in it with all your heart.*

Day one -- Life IS Good! :O)

- Copyright 2010

*I don't pray because I think it changes God.
I pray because it changes ME.*
-- Shadowlands --

Welcome!

I've decided to do a little something different :O)

This blog will feature one photo every day starting with today.  The photo will not necessarily have been taken that day - it may just have to have something to do with how I'm feeling or it may just be a photo that I particularly love.

All photos are property of ME!  And all are copyrighted material.  If you wish to use/borrow a photo - PLEASE ask.  Never take.

Any quotes, lyrics, or passages from books on the other hand will not be my own material and therefore, they're all up for grabs.  I do, always, of course recommend citing any material you do use to the original author. :O)

Enjoy!
