Day Eighty-Four

Copyright 2010.  David and Emily -- June 26, 2010.

*Remember tonight, for it is the beginning of always.  A promise, like a reward, for persisting through life so long alone.  A belief in each other and the possibility of love.  A decision to ignore, simply rise above, the pain of the past.  A covenant, which at once binds two souls and at once severs prior ties.  A celebration of the chance taken and the challenge that lies ahead.  For two will always be stronger than one, like a team braced against the tempests of the world.  And love will always be the guiding force in our lives.  For tonight is a mere formality - only an announcement to the world of feelings long held... promises made long ago in the sacred space of our hearts.*

Day Eight-Three...

Copyright 2008.  David and Emily in Gatlinburg Tennessee.

*I'm preparing right now to head to Annapolis, MD for my little brother's wedding -- so no pictures for a few days, but hopefully this will hold you over until then :O) *

*Every once in a while, people step up.  They rise above themselves.  Sometimes they surprise you and sometimes they fall short.  Life is funny sometimes.  It can push pretty hard, but if you look close enough, you can find hope in the words of children, in the bars of the song and in the eyes of someone you love.  And if you're lucky - if you're the luckiest person on this entire planet - the person you love decides to love you back.*

Day Eighty-Two - Happy Father's Day!

Copyright 2009 -- My mom, my dad, me and my cousin Laura :O)

*It is not until much later, as the skin sags and the heart weakens, that children understand;  Their stories, and all their accomplishments, sit a top the stories of their mothers and fathers.  Stones upon stones, beneath the waters of their lives.*

Day Eighty-One

Copyright 2010.  Another beautiful flower...

*There comes a moment in your life
like a window and you see,
The future there before you
and how perfect life can be.
But adventure calls with unknown voices,
pulling you away.
Be careful or you may regret
the choice you make someday.*

Day Eighty

*All of life is madness.  The defected, the demented, and the damned are the real people of the world.  And I'm proud to be in their company.*

Day Seventy-Nine

Copyright 2010.  My favorites :O)

*People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle.  But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth.  Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don't even recognize;  a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves... the black, curious eye of a child... our own two eyes.

All is a miracle.*

Day Seventy-Eight...

Copyright 2010.  Blackberries growing by our back door.

*What is one to say about June -
the time of perfect young summer.
The fulfillment of the promise
of the earlier months.
And with it as yet no sign to remind one,
that it's fresh young beauty will ever fade.*

Day Seventy-Seven --

Copyright 2010.  Flowers in my backyard.

*I long to accomplish great and noble tasks, but it is my chief duty to accomplish humble tasks as though they were great and noble.  The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also by the aggregate of the tiny pushes of each honest worker.*

Day Seventy-Six -- So far behind...

Copyright 2010.  Storm cloud approaching over my backyard.

*Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swamps of the not-quite, the not-yet and the not-at-all.  Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you've deserved, but never been able to reach.  The world you desire can be won.

It exists.

It is real.

It is possible.

It is yours.*

Day Seventy-Five -- Hoping for great things...

Copyright 2010.  The Curious George cake my co-worker made for our preschool graduation.

*It's been said that the saddest thing a man will ever face is what might have been.  But what of the man who's faced with what was?  Or what may have been?  Or what may never be?  Or what can no longer be?  Choosing the right path is never easy.  It's a decision we make with only our hearts to guide us.  But sometimes we find our way to something better.  Sometimes we fight through the regret and remorse of our mistakes, our malice and our jealousy, and the shame we feel for not being the people we were meant to be.  And that's when we find our way to  something better... or maybe something better finds its way to us.*
