Day Thirty-Six -- Two of my very favorite people :O)

Copyright 2009.  Connor and Caydee -- Spring '09

*Every song the world sings, each was once unknown,
Somebody felt a song inside and wasn't afraid to sing alone.
If you feel the music and you sing it clear and true,
then the world can sing with you...

One small voice can teach the world a song.
Start with one small voice, til another sings along.
And then you'll feel the music growing full and sure and strong...
One small voice can teach the world a song.

No tune is too simple, no voice can be wrong.
Music can come from any heart,
and anyone's voice can lead the song.
If you feel the music, and if you believe the words,
sing and you'll be heard...

One small voice can teach the world a song.
Start with one small voice, til another sings along.
And then you'll feel the music growing full and sure and strong,
One small voice can teach the world a song.*

Day Thirty-Five -- It has FINALLY really arrived!!!

Copyright 2010.  Taken outside of where I work :O)

*You know how I see it?
There's always going to be bad stuff out there.
But here's the amazing thing;
Light trumps darkness, every time.

You stick a candle into the dark,
but you can't stick the dark into the light.*

Day Thirty-Four -- Own your Life... for it's your own. (Even when you're goofy!)

Copyright 2009.  Taken by my cousin Laura in the Outer Banks, NC.

*The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours. It is an amazing journey and you alone are responsible for the quality of it.

THIS is the day your life REALLY begins.*

Day Thirty-Two and Thirty-Three together -- Because We're Gonna Miss This...

**Note: photos in this entry are NOT my own.  Hence the citing of sources at the bottom. :O)**

*You're gonna miss this,
you're gonna want this back.
You're gonna wish these days,
hadn't gone by so fast.
These are some good times,
so take a good look around.
You may not know it now...

But you're gonna miss this.*

-- Trace Adkins --

And we're gonna miss this too!!!  Best University of Kentucky Wildcat team in YEARS.  Best coach too.  Couldn't be prouder of our Cats and Coach Cal for making it all the way to the Elite 8 after not even making it into the tournament last year.  Of course we wish they could have gone all the way... but it wasn't meant to be.

We will miss the boys who leave us behind to go off to bigger things (like the NBA!)... and we wish them all the best in the future :O)

Day Thirty-One -- Spring is Everywhere :O)

Copyright 2010.  It's definitely Spring!
*It's funny,
day by day nothing seems to change...
and then,
everything's different.*

Day Thirty -- Blossoming :O)

Copyright 2010.  Blossoms on the lilac bush :O)

*You can be anywhere when your life begins...
when the future opens up in front of you.
And you may not even realize it at first...
but it's already happening.*

Day Twenty-Nine -- Imagination

Copyright 2009.  Connor playing in the backyard.

*Here in the middle of imagination,
right in the middle of my head,
I close my eyes and my room's not a room,
and my bed really isn't my bed.

I look inside and discover things
that are sometimes strange and new.
And the most remarkable thoughts I think,
have a way of being true.

Here in the middle of imagination,
right in the middle of my mind,
I close my eyes and the night isn't dark
and the things that I lose, I find.

Time stands still and the night is clear,
and the wind is warm and fair.
And the nicest place is the middle of imagination
when I'm there.*

Day Twenty-Eight -- A tiny explorer...

Copyright 2009.  Caydee playing in the frozen birdbath with a stick.

*Show me the light in a butterfly's eye,
and show me the dreams of the earth and the sky.
Show me the night, show me the day,
show me the secret that dances away.

There's a rainbow I wish I could climb like a tree.
A bug and a boulder that beckon to me.
Show me leaves in the spring,
show me love on the wing.
Show me things that I long to explore...

Show me more.*

Day Twenty-Seven -- Self Portrait

Copyright 2009.  Taken at PI courtesy of my friend and at the time co-worker Susan G.

*I know what it's like.  I've seen it played out a few zillion times.  You're waiting for that magical day when someone makes the connection and recognizes who you really are.  Maybe they'll first catch the sparkle in your eye.  Or perhaps they'll marvel at your insights and the depth of your spirit.  Someone who will help you connect the dots, believe in yourself, and make sense of it all.  Someone who will understand you, approve of you, and unhesitatingly give you a leg up so that life can pluck your ready, ripened self from the branch of magnificence.
Well I'm here to tell you, your wait is over.
That person, is you.*

Day Twenty-Six -- I Would Die for That...

Copyright 2009.  Connor and Caydee - Taken by me when I worked at PI.

*I want to know what it's like,
to bring a dream to life.
For that kind of love,
what I'd give up...

I would die for that.*

Day Twenty-four -- FINALLY!!!

Copyright 2010. Spring Lilies getting ready to bloom :O)

*It was one of those March days
when the sun shines hot
and the wind blows cold...

When it's summer in the light,
and winter in the shade.*

Day Twenty Three -- Little Moments...

Copyright 2009.  Caydee outside... waiting for spring.

*As it happens sometimes,
a moment settled and hovered
and remained for much more than a moment.

And sound stopped and movement stopped
for much, much more than a moment.

And then...
the moment was gone.*

Day Twenty-One -- Why it's so GOOD to be a Kentuckian in March!

or...

SEC CHAMPIONS!!!
and...

THE GREAT WALL OF KENTUCKY!

Jim Brown/US Presswire (Photo from 3/14 - ESPN.com)

*On, on, U of K, we are right for the fight today,
Hold that ball and hit that line;
Ev'ry Wildcat star will shine;
We'll fight, fight, fight, for the blue and white
As we roll to that goal, Varsity,
And we'll kick, pass and run, 'till the battle is won,
And we'll bring home the victory.*

Day Twenty -- What it means to be a Kentuckian in March!

Photo taken by me -- All UK images are trademark of the University of Kentucky

“Well if you’re going to be in a tournament, you want to win it. But our whole thing is that it’s bigger and it’s more important than winning. We’ve got to get ourselves prepared for that next weekend and that’s what we’ll do. Basically everything we do is based on how and where we finish the season. We’re trying to get ready and right physically and emotionally, and in every way so we can go in and do our very best. If you are your best and you do not win, then you can deal with it, as long as you’re your best. I want fresh legs. I want fresh minds. I want a competitive spirit. I want the players to expect to win so that when things get a little crazy, it’s ok. That takes a mature person. They don’t call a foul, ‘Oh well, we’re still winning.’ A player starts talking, ‘Oh well, we’re still winning.’ These kids are 19, they don’t know how to react when things get thrown at them. The good news is we’ve gone through just about everything, and we’re still standing.”

Day Nineteen -- Spring Cleaning!

Before.
(note - no organization... clutter... detritus! Galore)

After.(muuuuch better) :O)

*March bustles in on windy feet
and sweeps my doorstep and my street.
She washes and cleans with pounding rains,
scrubbing the earth of winter stains.
She shakes the grime from carpet green
till naught but fresh new blades are seen.
Then, house in order, all neat as a pin,
She ushers gentle springtime in.*

Day Eighteen -- Morning Doves -- another sign of spring!

Copyright 2010 -- Taken today in my backyard here in Lexington, Kentucky.

*I remember one morning getting up at dawn,
there was such a sense of possibility.
You know that feeling?

And I remember thinking to myself
that this is the beginning of happiness.
This is where it starts.
And of course, there will always be more.

It never occured to me
that it wasn't the beginning.
It WAS happiness.
It was the moment...
right then.*

Day Seventeen -- Driving with the Windows Down!

Copyright 2010 -- Taken today in Lexington - first truly beautiful day of the year!

*... there are all sorts of experiences that we can't really put a name to...  The birth of a child, for one.  Or the death of a parent.  Falling in love.

Words are like nets - we hope they'll cover what we mean, but we know they can't possibly hold that much joy, or grief, or wonder.

Finding God is like that, too.  If it's happened to you, you kow what it feels like.  But try to describe it to someone else - and language only takes you so far...*

Day Sixteen -- A Light at the End of the Tunnel...

Copyright 2009. Connor at Boyd's Orchards.

*Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things that a man needs to believe in the most;  that people are basically good. That honor, courage and virtue mean everything.  That power and money, and money and power mean nothing.  That good always triumphs over evil.  And I want you to remember this - that love... true love - never dies.

You remember that.

Doesn't matter if it's true or not.  You see, a person should believe in those things because those are the things worth believing in.*

Day Fifteen -- Another American Saturday Night!

Copyright 2010.  Taken at the Brad Paisley concert - Lexington, Kentucky.

*When my great, great, great granddaddy
stepped off of that ship,
I bet he never ever dreamed we'd have all this...

You know everywhere has something they're known for,
oh but usually it washes up on our shores.
Little Italy and China Town, sittin' there side by side,
Live from New York,
It's Saturday Night!

It's a french kiss, italian ice,
Spanish moss in the moonlight,
It's just another American Saturday Night.*

Day Fourteen -- Blue Skies over Kentucky

Copyright 2010. Taken from my car as I parked for work -- blue skies and 50 degrees! Spring is near!!

*I laid in bed that night and thought about the day,
and how my life is like a rollercoaster ride.
The ups and downs and crazy turns along the way,
it'll throw you off if you don't hold on tight.

You can't really smile until you shed some tears.
I could die today or I might live on for years...

I love this crazy tragic, sometimes almost magic,
awful, beautiful life.*

Day Thirteen -- Sweet Boy

Copyright 2007.  E playing on our walk.

*I know we're all pretty small in the big scheme of things,
and I suppose the most you can hope for
is to make some kind of difference.

But what kind of difference have I made?
What in the world is better because of me?*

Day Twelve... As winter 'March'es on

Copyright 2009.  Taken in January 2009 during the Winter Ice Storm.

*How did it get so late so soon?
It's night before it's afternoon.
December is here before it's June.
My goodness how the time has flewn.
How did it get so late so soon?*

Day Eleven -- In Anticipation of Spring...

Copyright 2009.  Taken at the Lexington Cemetary - Spring 2009.

*I've always found this a trying time of the year.
The leaves not yet out,
mud everywhere you go.
Frosty mornings gone,
Sunny mornings not yet come.
Give me blizzards and frozen pipes,
but not this nothing time.
Not this waiting room of the world.*
